Pregnancy massage at White Stone Wellness, Burleigh Heads

Pregnancy is a marathon. The body works overtime, sleep gets harder, the lower back protests, the legs swell, and somewhere along the way — you stop being asked how you're holding up.

Then the baby arrives, and a different kind of work begins. The carrying, the feeding, the strange shapes you fold yourself into at 3am. A body that doesn't quite feel like yours yet.

White Stone Wellness in Burleigh Heads offers pregnancy and postnatal massage built for both stages — pregnancy massage from 12 weeks onward, and postnatal recovery from when you're ready. Quiet rooms, skilled hands, and an hour where someone is finally looking after you.

Two stages, both held

Pregnancy and postnatal — two different needs.

A growing body and a recovering body need different things. Both are welcome here, and we adjust the work to match where you are.

Pregnancy · From 12 weeks

Pregnancy Massage

For the body that's growing one.

From the second trimester onward, pregnancy massage is one of the most welcome forms of bodywork. Side-lying positioning with proper bolstering keeps you comfortable while your therapist works through the areas that take the brunt — lower back, hips, shoulders, and those swollen ankles and feet.

The pressure stays moderate and nurturing. Certain points and techniques are deliberately avoided. Your therapist checks in throughout, and the session shifts as your pregnancy progresses — what works at 16 weeks is different from what works at 36.

What it helps with Lower back ache, sciatica, tight hips, swollen feet and ankles, shoulder tension from postural changes, fatigue, sleep quality.
Postnatal · From 2 weeks

Postnatal Massage

For the body that's recovering after.

The fourth trimester rarely gets the attention the first three do. Postnatal massage helps your body come back to itself — easing the residual aches, the feeding-shoulders, the carrying-arms, the tightness that comes from short nights and constant low-level lifting.

For a vaginal birth without complications, you can usually book in from around 2 weeks postpartum. After a c-section or birth complications, we ask that you've had your 6-week check first. Bring the baby if you need to — there's space and we understand.

What it helps with Tight upper back from feeding, shoulder and neck strain, hip recovery, c-section scar tissue (from week 6), sleep, mental space.
Who books in

The reasons people come.

No single reason brings someone in. These are the most common — and any combination is welcome.

The aches that come with pregnancy

Lower back, hips, the dull ache between the shoulders. The tension that builds up as your body shifts to make room.

Swollen ankles & heavy legs

Late-stage pregnancy fluid retention, summer heat, long days on your feet. Lymphatic-style work eases what gravity won't.

The carrying-and-feeding shoulders

Postnatal upper-back and neck tension from feeding posture, baby-holding, and the shape your body keeps making at 3am.

C-section recovery

From your 6-week check onward, gentle work around scar tissue, ab fascia, and the surrounding areas that compensated.

Sleep that won't come

Pregnancy insomnia, postnatal exhaustion. Bodywork won't fix the wakings, but it can help your nervous system find the off-switch.

Just to be looked after

Sometimes the best reason. An hour where the body is held, the baby is somewhere safe, and someone else is doing the caring.

What to expect

What an hour with us looks like.

Whether it's your first pregnancy massage or your first postnatal session, here's the rough shape of an appointment. Each session is shaped around where your body is on the day, and your therapist will check in throughout.

Tell us anything we should know when you book — high-risk pregnancy, recent c-section, or just nervous about the experience. Nothing is unusual to us.

  • 01

    Settling in & quick chat

Arrive 5–10 minutes early on your first visit. Your therapist will check in on what trimester or week postpartum you're in, where the body's protesting most, and anything we should adjust around.

  • 02

    Getting comfortable

For pregnancy: side-lying with bolsters supporting your belly, knees and shoulders. For postnatal: side-lying or face-down depending on stage and preference. Take the time you need to settle.

  • 03

    The work itself

Slower than a regular remedial massage. Pressure is moderated and adapted to your body. Many clients drift off — pregnancy fatigue and postnatal sleep deficit make our table a popular place to nap.

  • 04

    Closing & taking your time

Up slowly, water afterwards, no rush. Most people feel looser, lighter, a bit drowsy. Plan a quiet rest of the day if you can.

3 × 60 mins

A few things people ask

Good to know.

From 12 weeks onward. We don't offer pregnancy massage in the first trimester. From the second trimester through to the end of pregnancy, our therapists adjust positioning, pressure and technique to suit each stage.

Yes, when delivered by a trained therapist with appropriate positioning. Our pregnancy-trained therapists use side-lying positions, supportive bolsters, and avoid certain pressure points and techniques that aren't suitable during pregnancy. If you have a high-risk pregnancy or specific concerns, please check with your obstetrician or midwife first.

The positioning, the pressure, and the focus are all different. You'll be in a comfortable side-lying position with bolsters supporting your body, rather than face-down. The pressure is generally lighter and more nurturing, focused on the areas that get the most strain during pregnancy — lower back, hips, shoulders, swollen legs and feet.

For a vaginal birth without complications, generally from around 2 weeks postpartum once you're feeling up to it. After a c-section or birth complications, we ask that you've had your 6-week check and are cleared by your treating practitioner. If in doubt, give us a call — we'll talk it through.

Pregnancy massage is broadly therapeutic — easing the aches and tension that come with carrying a growing body. Lymphatic drainage during pregnancy is more specifically aimed at fluid retention, swollen ankles and that heavy-legged feeling. We offer both, and your therapist can help you decide which is right for the day.

Yes, partners are welcome to wait in our reception area. The treatment room is private though — we don't have a couples set-up for pregnancy massage.

You'll undress to your comfort level — most clients keep underwear on for pregnancy massage. You'll be draped throughout, with only the area being worked on uncovered. Our therapists are comfortable with whatever level of undress works for you.
